Nether Edge Folk Club use a commercial online subscription database called ‘’ which is fully GDPR compliant. All our subscribers have asked to be added to our Newsletter email distribution list.

Lawful basis for processing.

The lawful basis for processing personal data is that it is necessary to inform subscribers as to what is happening at Nether Edge Folk Club, manage the club and to promote an appreciation of acoustic music and song.

Information Held

Only names and email addresses are held for the purpose of emailing the Club Newsletter which announces forthcoming Club events. Some subscribers are flagged as ‘Friends of the Club’ for emailing of an alternative Club Newsletter which additionally offers ticket discounts, social news and announcements from other ‘Friends of the Club’. Some subscribers are also flagged as ‘masters of ceremony’ for emailing information concerning the running of the club. This data is not shared with any other persons or organisations.

Data processing

Nether Edge Folk Club produces a Newsletter about once a month. Occasionally emails will be sent only to subscribers who are also flagged as ‘Friends of the Club’. Very occasionally emails concerning club matters will be sent to subscribers flagged as ‘masters of ceremony’. The club has a membership officer who is the designated person for data protection.


Applications to subscribe to our newsletter are recorded online by ‘’. Every email sent out by the club affords the subscriber an opportunity to update their details or unsubscribe from our list. In addition, where it is detected by ‘’ that a subscription is inactive – it will be automatically unsubscribed.
